Situated behind the Great Dyke, Gweru is on the main link of rail between Bulawayo and Harare. It is at the principal junction with lines radiating to Masvingo, Shurugwi, Zvishavane and the Lowveld. The province boasts of a number of tourist attractions ranging from man-made, natural and events. Gweru is Zimbabwe’s third largest city with a population of approximately 500 000. Most of the residents are involved in enterprises which are designed to produce leather shoes, building materials, the major share of which occupies a cement, chrome alloys, and meat processing.In the suburbs are several agricultural farms for the breeding of livestock. In addition, large areas in the vicinity of Gweru are occupied by plantations of grapes, which are currently giving abundant harvests.
The Midlands Agricultural Show is running from the 23-26 July 2020 with the theme “Youth employment and wealth creation".
