About Nesbitt Arms Hotel
The Lowveld – a sweltering land of ancient baobabs and shimmering granite domes, of endless sugar cane fields and Zimbabwe’s premier wildlife Eden – the Gonarezhou National Park. Whether you are travelling to Gonarezhou or just visiting the Lowveld on business you’ll find yourself in the vicinity of Chiredzi. And it’s here that you’ll discover another of the Lowveld’s gems – The Nesbitt Arms.
From the moment you arrive at The Nesbitt Arms you realise this is not your run-of-the-mill establishment. The main building, an attractive mix of Tudor-style black beams and hand-hewn stone, is set against a hill known as “Chigaripasi”. Appropriately, this is Shona for “sit and rest awhile” – and, soon after checking in, this is precisely what you’ll find yourself doing. The staff, obviously used to having their visitors peel themselves out of hot, sticky cars, are quick to introduce you to their three all-important “cooling down ingredients”.
The first is the comfortable, air-conditioned rooms (18 singles and 12 doubles – all en suite). The second is the magnificent crystal-clear pool (which you won’t want to get out of). And the third is the wonderful array of refreshments on offer. Sitting beside the pool, under the large shady trees, sipping on an ice-cold drink, one can feel every last trace of clammy discomfort evaporating into thin air.
