Ethiopian airlines has launched its flight from Addis Ababa to Victoria Falls to improve accessibility of the resort town. The aircraft touched down at Victoria Falls international airport at 1235hrs yesterday afternoon ( Sunday , 26 March 2017).
The aircraft was welcomed with a traditional water canon as well as cultural dances by traditional dance groups. The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Dr Joram Gumbo led the delegation that attended the ceremony and was joined by Ethiopian Airlines management, players in the tourism sector as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).Also on board were also 4 international media from Germany accompanied by ZTA Tourism attaché for Germany, Colleta Beichtmann, who are in the country on a familiarisation tour of Hwange and Victoria Falls.
The maiden flight comes just a few weeks after South African Airways launched an Airbus A330-200 on the Victoria Falls-Johannesburg route.
