The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Chief Executive Mr Karikoga Kaseke has once again been honoured with a leadership award of the year 2016 by the Megafest national business awards.

The combative and hands on Chief Executive who is credited for having landscaped the Zimbabwe tourism tape stripe was last year voted the Chief Executive Officer of the year by the same institution. Commenting on his latest feather to his cap, Kaseke paid tribute to his team that he says has remain focussed and resolute in pursuit of the vision of the organisation the ever changing business environment.

“We don’t work for awards or prizes but when you continue to get such recognition it’s a reminder that the world is watching you, appreciating your works and your efforts are not in vain. I want to honestly salute team tourism for its determination to achieve. They have remained focussed in spite of the obtaining economic challenges that have made our job difficult and as a leader you don’t want to fail such a formidable team,” said Kaseke.
According to the citation by the awarding authority, Kaseke’s latest accolade is given in recognition of the leadership qualities he has continued to exude especially in steering the ZTA and tourism ship through turbulent times not favourable to tourism. He is also credited for championing the ease of doing Business in the Tourism and Related sectors.

Through his magnanimous and results oriented approach, Zimbabwe was recently acknowledged by the New York Times as a number 14 Global must visit tourism destinations. Current tourism statistics show that Zimbabwe is on the recovery path, the arrivals statistics that had plummeted over the years due to a myriad of problems are now on the rise.

This has resulted in government acknowledging and pinning its hopes on tourism as one of the key sectors most favoured to turn around the fortunes of the national economy.
